I explore current representations in popular culture that contribute to social disparity. I probe these systems in increasingly abstract paintings to make works that employ formal visual language, yet additionally, become opportunities for social reflection. In this way paintings, drawings, and occasional installations, address manufactured representations of women, ubiquitous in the commercial media, and their determining presence in shaping the identity of, and about, women.

In Body of Language
In earlier works I manipulate appropriated fashion imagery doubling their iconic poses as minor deity figures to humorously underscore their power. In my current compositions (Body of Language) I utilize shifting fragments of these poses to camouflage them as formal abstractions that additionally resonate with their familiar status as influencers in social media.

In Groundwork(s)
"Grounded I, II, III (on paper from 2021) composed of patterns from sneakers left on the ground.
Here, a visual metaphor for crossing paths, shared space, social unity.
In the Court(ed) abstractions I puzzle the relationship between the business of sports and the site from which players are drawn.Court(ed):Be Mine II and III utilize a schematic pattern that resonates with the courting of the NBA of prospective players.
