Apotheosis series on canvas and on paper 2023-2024
Appearances series on canvas and on paper 2011- 2013

My figurative painting series utilize a fusion of the contours of single fashion figures to resonate with the supremacy of representations of various female Buddhist and Hindu statues and link it to the manufacture of Western media goddesses. My ‘deified’ images are an acknowledgement that commercial archetypes of the beauty industry are intended to perpetuate a comparison that reinforces the idea that women are never quite enough without their products, services, and interventions. This distraction lessens the joy and power we can experience of ourselves and perpetuates our objectification.
